For a leader to outlive his followers expectations, he or she must adopt a value driven leadership.
Considering the many blunders democratic leaders have left behind after their term in office, it is important, every aspiring leader choose a different approach towards leadership, in other to build a sustainable system of governance that ensures economic and human development.

By Values-driven leadership, I meant a conscious commitment by leaders at all levels to lead with their values and create a corporate culture that optimizes financial performance, ethical practice, social contribution and environmental impact.
By leading from a deep sense of purpose and a demonstrated commitment to life-affirming values, such as honesty, integrity, excellence, courage, humility, trust, care for people and social and environmental responsibility. Democratic leaders can gradually expunge the long standing decay in the Nigerian democratic system.

A leader should see his/herself as an important part of the communities in which s/he serve and should be committed to providing solutions to the most challenging social and environmental issues facing our society.

When considering transforming the broken democratic culture to a values-driven culture, Leaders should seek the advice of experts in respect to policies and budget implementations.

Assistance and aids should be given the support to operate based on the requirements of their offices, while ensuring a proper response towards social challenges and development.
