Chairman of Biase Local Government Area, Hon. (Mrs) Ada Charles Egwu on Saturday, commissioned Solar-Powered Motorized Borehole Water Project fitted with state of the art equipment donated by Engineer Ukam Ekpei.
Engr. Ekpei is a philanthropist and a staff of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation – NNPC from Ijom community in Biase Local Government Area.

Speaking at the cutting of the ribbon and official handing-over ceremony of the borehole water project, Hon, Mrs Ada Charles Egwu commended Engr. Ekpei for conceiving and working towards giving back to his people because everyone has a role to play in governance.
“This project will surely affect the people’s lives positively as human survival is dependent on water, Hon Mrs Ada Charles Egwu adds.

“This project undertaken in personal capacity by your son(Engr. Ekpei) as part of his efforts to address the needs of his people, belongs to you and am happy to commission it.
“Engr Ekpei Ukam is a man with uncommon affection for his people and humanity.
“Am admonishing our people (Ijom village) who are the direct beneficiaries of this laudable projects to maintain and protect it as well as other projects sited in their community”

In his remarks, the donor of the project, Engr. Ukam Ekpei stated that the people of Ijom in Abayong ward deserves to enjoy basic amenities, we deserve drinkable and clean water, good road networks, electricity, standard health facility etc.
“My community has been in dare need of clean and drinkable water and in my bid to address this situation, I had to build and donate this water project to my community. Engr. Ekpei said.
He also posited that water is one of the basic needs for man’s survival and following his continued desire to put smiles on the faces of his people, he assures his community of more projects.

He urged the youth, women and the entire community to take ownership of the borehole for proper maintenance and for it to serve it purpose for a long time.
The epoch making event had in attendance the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of UNICROSS Governing Council, Onun Dr Emil Inyang, Member representing Biase State Constituency in the CRSHA, Rt. Hon. Ogbor Ogbor, Leader of Biase Legislative Council, Hon. Charles Eko, Asst Prof Uti Egbai and Secretary of Council, Mr. Daniel Enang.
Others include; Special Adviser on Peace and Security to the Chairman, Hon. Ukam Onette, Special Adviser to the Chairman on Business Development and Innovation, Engr. Egan Adat, Special Assistant to the Governor, Ministry of Justice, Barr. Ijom-Odum Ukam and other Political appointees from the State and LG as well as Youth, Women and traditional rulers
Highpoint of the event was the official handing over of the project the community by Engr. Ukam Ekpei.
